They say - Messages encrypted, but this only means from your phone to their servers then from their servers to the recipients phone, but takes all your meta data - your contacts list, calls list, time, duration. Its also what they do not say "WhatsApp doesn't read your messages" doesn't mean Instagram cant read WhatsApp messages. It doesn't mean on phone A.I. cant read your messages. WhatsApp - Bought by Facebook / Meta for $12,000,000,000 that's a lot of money for a bit of software they could write for a fraction the cost. What they bought was a network with access to millions of phones. Then slowly eroded the privacy of a once trusted app. |

Proton to Proton would be encrypted end to end (very private). Proton do not extract data from you emails. Gmail to Proton can still be read by Google before they send it encrypted to Proton. So I try to use Signal instead where possible. |
Photo Storage
Not Private Your iPhone, Google phone etc. (Even if you do not sync to the cloud, Google drive etc)
All photos will be scanned for CSAM, Faces, Locations, Date. Categorized & rummaged though by A.I. & then you (or people you took picture of) will probably get adverts about what you took pictures of. The cloud is just someone else's computer. |
